Simplicity in Design: the Puck

Simplicity in Design: the Puck

"Form follows function" is not a new concept. But when you aim at "everydayness", when the device you're making has to work together with your smartphone to help you stay fit and to encourage you to start and stick to healthier habits, you must mobilize your full strength so form and function really come together.

Our goal is to help make your life simpler in a fast-paced, digital age. We want to deliver the most emotionally satisfying user experience: since you cannot really, entirely unplug, Zenytime leverages technology for a more balanced, sustainable lifestyle.

That means, slowing things down, for a few minutes, anywhere, anytime.

It forced us to do more with less. We removed all extra features. We made sure every item serves a purpose. We stripped our design of anything we could.

For example, the "Puck" has no switch. Instead, to turn it on, simply spin the top lid and place the Puck on your smartphone screen.

Our device is a small form factor that you can easily "pinch" between your thumb and fingers: we minimized system size, weight, and power consumption. And it is much more than small size, it also allowed to place signal processing closely to sensors and optimize data flow and reliability.

As a result of a highly iterative design process, the "Puck" is a recognizable electronic device we carefully designed for you to experience the "wow of now".
